I live next door to a very aggressive german shepard that has attempted to bite me?

The shepard was able to lunge over the fence almost getting my shoulder. I was able to avoid the bite. I was on my property the entire time, and since then have to be careful getting into my backyard.....the properties are close together.When I attempted to talk with the neighbour she told me as long as he (the dog) stays on her side of the fence there is no problem. What can I do to freely move on my property?
