I am 65 years old, exercise 3-5 times a week, perfect weight, and am careful with my sugar/carbohydrate intake?

My doctor has been screening me every 6 months. My glucose level is 6.0 =104. My parents both developed diabetes in their early 80s (but never followed any kind of diet). What else can I do to 'turn this around?' In addition to other vitamins, I also take cinammon and chromium picolinate which is 'supposed' to lower glucose.
