IWave MP3 Player Wont Turn On?

I got a 4Gig iwave as a gift a few months ago, and it's been working okay until today. It refuses to turn on no matter how long (or short) I hold the power button. It was half charged on Tuesday, the last time I used it, so it had enough battery when I turned it off. Since then, it's been safely nestled in my purse in a little bag/case and has had no exposure to liquids. I plugged it into my computer and it doesn't even recognize that it's plugged in. I've seen a few other cases of this but no solutions that don't really involve cracking the thing open. Anyone know a solution? I'd really hate to replace it, since I've only had it a few months, but also considering it's a gift I'd hate to throw it out if there's any viable way to fix it.
